DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BASAL METABOLISM AND METABOLIC BALANCE

I notice that there is a lot of confusion regarding these two factors, so it's good to understand the difference so you can focus on what's important in order to achieve your weight goals.

In fact, what I hear asked very often is “how do I know my basal metabolic rate?”

Of course this is just a mistake in using the inappropriate term, because what people really want to know is “how many calories do I need to eat to get to my goal?”

And to know this value you don't need to understand our basal metabolism, that is, how many calories our body needs at rest to support its vital functions. Because any healthy person who lives a daily life not lying in bed, he also has an energy expenditure resulting from all those activities that make up his day.

This expenditure naturally adds to the basal metabolism giving rise to the total daily energy expenditure (TDEE) which is precisely the value you are interested in knowing to understand how to act from a nutritional point of view to achieve your goals.

In this way you will be able to understand how to balance energy intake and expenditure based on a mathematical calculation that takes into account:

– Basal metabolism
+
– Thermogenesis activity (resulting from movements and training)
+
– Thermal effect of food (resulting from digestion)

There are several formulas that can give you an approximate value around which your body should maintain weight, but this estimate does not always coincide with the application in the field. This depends on a series of factors resulting from genetics, management of the nutritional history during childhood and developmental age, sporting past etc.

The value can be higher or lower, but only practice can give you the certainty to understand what type of work you want to do on yourself from different points of view, including metabolic restoration if necessary.

During my training courses structured on a subjective basis, you will learn very quickly to manage certain variables and understand how to deal with a metabolism that is too slow and therefore super efficient or its opposite. In order to have once and for all the key concepts that will help you achieve your goal month after month, whether it's losing weight or generally improving your body composition.

The more you put off an uncomfortable situation, worsening this condition over time, the more naturally you will have to work to catch up.

Woman warned…
